Day 1368 blood tests and snow!

Ok so I called out the snow this morning with yesterday’s forecast, but it needed up being nothing like the forecast!

Went to bed sooooo early. Was in bed for about 8 and slept right through until 7.10am. I had a lie in as I had the Phlebotomist for blood tests, this morning! (I LOVE that word!)

I opened my eyes about 6ish… no snow, back to sleep, 7.10…. Now snow, back to sleep until 7.50am and still no snow.

I set foot out of the house at 8.30am. It started to snow.

The doctors surgery is a 5 minute drive.

Still snowing.

Walked in the door…. ā€œJulie?!?!ā€ ….. yes…. Straight in to the phlebotomist šŸ˜‚

First arm no vein.

Second arm no vein.

ā€œHave you drunk any water this morning?ā€ Yes loads… ā€œstrange as that should help your veins….ā€

Finally got a vein in my right hand.

Drew bloods for rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation and something else which I missed.

All in all 5 minutes.

Over her shoulder, outside the window looked very white.

Yup full dusting of snow when I walked out the door and it was still snowing.

I didn’t seem enough to work from home, and really it wasn’t, but that didn’t stop me having a scary drive!

Some roads didn’t even have tracks in the snow. I drove down a hill near our local whisky bond and a truck turned the bend and came towards me. I pulled into the side and tapped the brakes….

Nothing. 😱

My anxiety went through the roof.

Every what if scenario considered.

I just slid on down that hill. Kept it straight thankfully and the truck got past me ok but I had the wobbles after that.

I often think it’s good to have a wee wobble on a first snow driving day as it makes you concentrate more.

By the time I got to work there was nothing.

Criag took this pic for me back home.

So that was me today.

I’m still not feeling great but not sure why. I’ve had a headache for two days. Nothing is shifting it. Seems like a tension headache. I was really emotional last night and kept wanting to cry. I’m tired and foggy headed. it’s not that time of the month and I’m still on the HRt.

I did a food shop after work tonight and tried to buy healthy. I’m thinking I’m having too much sugar in between fasts just now.

I had a veggie stir fry for dinner tonight but I didn’t enjoy it at all… least I made the effort to make it.

I’m gonna get back up and make my salad for lunch tomorrow, load the dishwasher and out some washing away then I’m going to sit down and read until Craig comes home.

Oh I should say that Craig’s Scottish Dog Behaviourist FB page reached 1,000 followers yesterday, which is incredible in his first year out own his own. He’s worked so hard to increase his followers, as have many of you, and for that I am so grateful. His business will go from straight to strength the more social media presence it has. If you haven’t links it yet, here’s the link to the page.

Day 1351 Happy Hogmanay Eve!

Knee pain – 1 progesterone – 0

Another strange on and off sleepless night. My knee is only sore in bed now. I even remembered to take painkillers!

Anyhoo… we had a lovely evening with Claire and Graeme last night. Check us… entertaining and all that! It was really nice and great chat.

It was super frosty by the time they left and still like that this morning.

Caught the dogs on the couch again this morning.

Minus Freya who couldn’t wait to get outside.

We had a good kick about with tennis balls .

Khaleesi is not quite sure what to do when she gets the tennis balls.

I sometimes her put her on the lead to stop her running about too much and hurting her legs.

So today Gayle and I were having a big day out.

I had loads of ideas, obviously the most crazy was that we would drive all the way to Oban and got to the Oban Chocolate shop for waffles and hot chocolate. The weather was forecast to be so lovely.

The forecast changed…. Considerably. šŸ˜‚

This morning I looked a 3 other long distance cafĆ©s…. One in Lochgoilhead which is and hour and half drive, one in Balmaha, about an hour away and one in Luss… also about an hour away.

They are all open today.

Good.

Just to decide.

I check the forecast.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!

ALL 3 LOCATIONS.

Look out the window.

SNOW!!! 🤯🤯🤯

My head goes into a tailspin…. Don’t tell me we’re not going to get our big day out!?!?

I picked Gayle up before 11…. We drove around for a while…. Thought about heading to Braehead Shopping Centre but turned around at Lochwinnoch as the snow was pretty bad.

We decided to head to Mocha JaK’s coffee shop at the end of the road!!

It was so lovely to get out of the house and have a right good natter!! For FOUR hours we talked incessantly.

I had French toast with bacon and maple syrup.

I ordered the Avocado stack but they didn’t have that… then I ordered the veggie breakfast but they didn’t have that either so I actually really enjoyed the French toast as I would never have really ordered it. They finish up today for a week so they were understandably running things down.

By the time I dropped Gayle off we were still talking and remembering things we hadn’t caught up on!

When I got home the snow had all gone. There was a lovely sky and it was only 3.30pm.

I’m watching a movie called ā€œWhat we did on our holidayā€ with David Tennant and Billy Connolly… it’s really good.

The dogs are fast asleep and I’m sitting by the light of the tree.

A lovely day!

Stay safe everyone šŸŽ„šŸŽ„šŸŽ„

Day 1334 we woke up to SNOW!!

I got up to the loo at 6.30am and Craig said to look out the window! What a shock to see a huge blanket of snow.

Obviously this photo wasn’t at 6.30am…. More like 7.30 by the time we got up.

She who usually has one eye constantly fixated on the weather forecast…. Did not see this coming! There were a few tiny flakes when we were out the back with the dogs last night. I didn’t even bat an eyelid…

It’s so pretty.

We had to make a plan to try to capture Khaleesi’s first snow šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Craig went out round the pub so he could come into the back garden with fresh snow so I could let her out the back door.

She was not impressed to start off with… she ran out… seemed confused, tried to see if she could eat it…. And ran back in!! Poor Craig’s half way down the garden waiting for her šŸ˜‚ I got her back outside and she finally clocked Craig and went bounding towards him! She’s always so excited to see him. there are no decent photos arms it was all video.

I’m all sent for my walk to the little gift shop.

It’s a beautiful morning… a cold walk but got some lovely shots. I’m like a kid in a sweetie shop, walking and taking photos.

This is the A737 and one of the busiest junctions, the Gateside – Beith cross. it’s usually heaving.

Another good morning at the shop and all too soon it’s time to walk back home.

It’s such a lovely day… there’s a real cold air hanging over the snow.

I played with the dogs for a bit. Craig’s only just left for the weekend so they’ve been out all morning. They’re still so excited.

It’s hard work all this snow play!

I had to clean all the snow off the car and headed over the Largs to pick up my new reading glasses. I’ve never seen the tide so night and there’s no snow in Largs given that it’s obviously at sea level.

There’s a nice sunset too.

I treated myself to lemon sole and chips from the Fish Works again.

I ate one half in the car!

I ate the other half at home!! Khaleesi is beside me. šŸ˜‚

So I’m all wrapped up cosy.

I had to get wood in from the wood store but both fires are going strong and I have an electric fire in the living room and one outside then bathroom. Our friends Lindsay and Euan dropped a heater off today and Gayle was going to lend me one from the shop.

It’s amazing how our body’s adjust to the temperature. What shocked me to the core on Thursday is now becoming the new norm. I’m sure we didn’t have central heating when we were kids… I’ve survived it before and will again. Called three guys but have no one booked yet. One was only oil heating and sadly he’s the one that answered!!

Anyhoo. Happy Saturday night!

Stay safe everyone ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø and warm… stay warm!

Day 608 it’s snowing!!! and my first ever Fogbow! What a beautiful day! ā›„ļø ā˜€ļø ā„ļø

Wow nature is amazing… I’m just back from the most stunning dog walk through snow, fog and pure blue sky sunshine. I am absolute buzzing!

I’m really going to have to build in some time to delete photos every day if I keep taking this many. So I’ll keep the chatter too minimum today as it’ll take me hours to sift through the millions of shots. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜†

Suffice to say I have a huge big grin on my face and am absolutely loving life. I just need to do this every day…. Not too much to ask?!? šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ™„šŸ¤£

It started with Calaidh barking again this morning. I got up to the loo and looked out the window… ran back into the bedroom practically shouting that it had been SNOWING!

Not sure why us Scots feel the need to share our snow with each other but we really do. In the next hour or so there’s a pic from each set of parents showing off theirs!

7.15am
Claire did the Christmas lights in the Memorial Hall yesterdayšŸŽ„

So it wasn’t heavy at all but we don’t care we share it anyway!

Our bamboo!

My wee 81 year old lady phoned this morning so I had a 45 chat with her and heard all her news then decided to head out with the dogs. Calaidh first.

It was freezing fog but so stunning and atmospheric.

Foggy field

All of a sudden on the road home the fog starts to clear. As I take this next photo I happen to turn to my left…

And see this…..

Don’t think this is the best picture but it’s the first one!
I ā€œthinkā€ this is the best one

It was really hard not to get too much of me in the photo as the sun is right behind me casting a shadow.

The sky ended up clearing to blue above it

I honestly can’t tell you how amazing it felt to be seeing this. It makes you feel so very good to be alive. I am so excited on a day when blog content just slaps me in the face!

By this time the sun is huge in the sky

Craig’s watching the Rangers game so I come running in the house shoving my phone in his face, chirping like a budgie and Rangers score their second goal. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜¬šŸ˜³šŸ¤£ least he was looking at a Fogbow when he missed it!

So back out with Bhruic and Freya but this time up the hill across the road. While I walk I’m sending the Fogbow pic to the family group chats…. As I look up…

Fogbow number 2!!! 😳🤯
Got another photo of it closer to the farm

And carrying on round the corner I see another one. Not to be fair… this could just be the same one moving. šŸ˜†

Fogbow number 3 or 2 repeated?!?

Wow, wow and wow.

I spent years driving to and from a job I hated, making myself ill being in first and out last, priding myself in my busyness…. because I thought that’s what you had to do. I never looked up. Never stopped to look at anything.

I am so proud that I’ve come this far and am able to feel like this about the sky… I mean come on. Get a room. (That makes no real sense at all but it was funny in my head?!)

The Fog’s still hanging
The Great Wall of fog!

Freya’s not impressed
I don’t ever remember seeing the fog clear like this

So now have my feet up in Gran’s chair.

The puppers are worn out

I’m enjoying a Turkish Apple Tea which Claire got me for my birthday.

And this is my view.

I hardly ever listen to music but it’s a playlist Craig made me for my birthday last year…. Each song means something to us… and it drowns out the football!!

And just like that…. Somewhere over the rainbow – The Ukele Boys starts playing! The law of attraction is amazing when you are in the right headspace!

Ours next door neighbour Holly provided a 3.30pm lunch/dinner…

Haggis, beeps and tarries with a whisky creme sauce!

It was the special in the pub this week. How lucky were we? It was so good.

The sky is darkening now. I’ve still to think about Christmas shopping, make tomorrow’s breakfast and lunch and write some words around my Fit Body Farm nomination and I really wanted to crochet today. But that’s ok. It can all wait.

So once again it’s nearly Sunday night and we face the week ahead. Remember if anything hits you that you feel you can’t handle, it’s only temporary. It will pass. Just keep on appreciating the present moment for what it is. Right here, right now. No worries foe the future, no shame of the past. Just what is.

And I’ll try and take my own advice!!

Stay safe everyone ā™„ļøā™„ļøā™„ļø
