Day 1575 5k run then painting ALL day 😩

I am exhausted!!

I can hardly put one foot in front of the other 😆 I have been painting the spare bedroom all day and I didn’t enjoy one minute of it.

But it is done ✅

Almost…. Someone suggested my free hand cutting in on the feature wall to white wall, wasn’t the best…. He is absolutely right and lucky to still be alive, in equal measure.

I messaged the run chat last night, as I hadn’t heard from anyone.

Let’s be clear here, I don’t really want to run…. But I also don’t want to NOT run on a Saturday.

It took me all day yesterday and I finally asked if someone else could head out this morning.

Lynsey said she could!

I was awake about 5.30am and up just after 6, meeting Lynsey at 6.30am.

She arrived early, from the opposite way she would usually come…

Turns out she met up with other girls at 5am to do a 10k and THEN came to meet me at 6.30… as you do!

We managed to get our run in the dry this morning… before the rain.

She doesn’t even seem tired!!

It’s a lovely morning, though a bit windy.

I manage the first 3.5-4kms but hit a wall on the last one.

I felt really strong at the start but super tired at the end. I felt lethargic all day.

I’m quite glad that’s over!

Mrs 15k is away home for a well deserved nap, while I head into a very cold shower. For the first time, I was able to take the whole shower under the cold water. It felt amazing.

Got ready to walk the dogs as Craig was still in bed. The heavens opened again and it was torrential rain, so I sat back down and had a coffee and lit the fire.

It’s so dark outside.

I’d made a list for this weekend… in case I forgot all the things I wanted to do.

All done apart from the dog walk. sorry puppers… they have been outside all day though.

I have not stopped….. It’s not been easy and I’ve found it really hard. A real drudge. I do not like decorating.

When you have 4 dogs, your house isn’t your own and does need a good clean from time to time…. I don’t do it often enough.

This room used to be Craig’s office so had lots of marks on the walls from all the white boards etc, that he had up.

So spare room gutted for my friend Helen coming to stay, next weekend.

Work in progress… feature wall from dark grey to Overtly Olive. We had lots left over from painting our kitchen cupboards.

I am really pleased with it. Impossible to get decent photos.

I could literally sleep sitting here typing this. 😆 but I need to feed the dogs!

Done ✅

The rest of the house is a mess but that can get dealt with tomorow. I’m not moving!!

Also my FB memories showed me it is 2 years ago since I took one of my favourite photos.

This is the sun setting through an old lamppost. I was staying in Ryan Bay holiday park in Abbie the campervan. That was a lovely weekend. I was really chuffed with this photo.

Hope you all had a great Saturday.

Stay safe everyone ♥️♥️♥️

Day 1513 splatter painting the town red, alcohol free style 😂 🎨👩🏻‍🎨🖌️

Wow…. I had a really lovely time out yesterday. I really enjoyed myself and I didn’t feel like the non drinking weirdo.

The girls were so inclusive and made me feel just as much a part of the day out as they were.

I know that might sound daft but I do still feel like a round peg in a square hole where drinking is concerned.

I am very proud of my choices but I still feel a bit socially awkward without the alcohol…. And yet I can talk to anyone. I’ve no idea why I think I need a drink to relax.

I suggested I’d drive us to the train station, which makes complete sense as a non drinker. We got the 15.21 train into Glasgow.

As I said yesterday, I completely relaxed once I was in the car… I couldn’t overthink my choice of clothes, I couldn’t change anything now I just had to go with the flow.

I’ve don’t think I’ve been in a bar in Glasgow for around 6 years. I might be wrong with that bit certainly not for a “drinking” night out.

Glasgow has changed so much. It’s very different from when I used to go out. I felt awkward in the first bar Kong, when we arrived, as I didn’t know quite where to put myself. I read that back and realise I’ve as much right to be there as anyone else but I felt like a mouse. Not sure where to go or what to do. Will change that for future outings!!

We’d booked the rooftop terrace, only to be told by the girl at the desk that we absolutely hadn’t booked the terrace and we had a table inside and downstairs from the terrace. Her manner was very abrupt and stand-offish…. It made us feel like our face didn’t fit…. she may well have had a really bad day and just taken it out on us, but a spade was a spade and it was what it was. There was nothing she could do about it.

After one of the girls, determined to change her mind, finally succeeded… we traipsed off upstairs to “stand at the bar for a drink for 15 minutes, then come down to our table”. That was all we would be allowed.

We headed upstairs thinking that was better than nothing…… the terrace was beautiful. The heavy rain shower had just passed and the outdoor area was empty. We rushed outside and grabbed a table, then a second table and then a third table….. but we were finally settled. And you know what… never had to move for the whole time of our booking. Outside in the sun, with patio heating. Just perfect. It’s a shame that couldn’t have been an offered option at the start.

The staff on the terrace were lovely. They couldn’t do enough for us.

I got a chocolate orange espresso “martini” which was lovely.

We got plenty of photos!

Then we headed around to Pizza Punks for dinner…. We may have got a little lost along the way due to “someone’s” google maps trying to drive there on the one way streets but it allowed us a photo of a random guy in a kilt.

I and had the most amazing pizza… I picked “create your own” with artichoke, mushroom, sundried tomato and candied chilli’s.

Now that I shared the photo, I remember it also had mac n’cheese on it too. 😬

It was really good at only £13.95 a pizza.

I also had a lovely mocktail.

It was really tasty.

It was raining by the time we came out of Pizza Punks and we tried to get a taxi, but ended up walking to Splatter Art Glasgow where we were to design our own splatter art!

My blank canvas…. I love the walls though!

And the finished article.

I actually did put some thought into it, and was still finished in about the first 10 minutes. 😆

So…. Turquoise for the sea and white for the beautiful Scottish beaches, pale green and purple for the land and heather, the yellow/orange for the sunshine and then the red….. blood was all I could come up with 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 there went my beautiful Scottish analogy. 😂

I really will be putting it up in the house when it’s dry.

Here’s Elly at work….. she was such an artist. Her painting was stunning.

Isn’t it beautiful!

That’s not even finished… I have video of everyone else’s but no photos.

We carried them home in these giant pizza boxes and spent the whole night shouting, it’s not pizza to everyone!

The classic Glaswegian moment where a girl screams out a car window, “gonnie gies a slice” 🍕has us all laughing!!

We stopped off at Sloans on the way to the train station… it says it’s Glasgow’s oldest restaurant and bar.

Are ye dancin?

Are ye askin?

The alleyway in is all painted now. It maybe has been for years 😂 I had an alcohol free gin and slimline tonic here.

I really had a lovely time with the best company and the best alcohol free selection to date!

We ran everything through an app called Splitwise. It means you don’t need to keep a track of who is paying for what, as you run it through the app, and all settle up the next day. It’s great for events like this where there are a lot of you.

So back to earth today. No events, no nights out, and I find myself pottering but literally doing nothing much in between.

I change Khaleesi’s bed…. And everyone wanted a shot of it. Calaidh first…

Then Bhru.

Khaleesi got bored and wondered what all the fuss was about.

She was quite happy in Gran’s chair.

Until she realised that all the bedding was lying outside to go through to the washing machine…. That was comfy…

Until she finally settled back down.

I’m sitting outside now. It’s hot then it’s cold (cue for a song!) it’s windy then it’s still and I’m going to read my book and do precious little else I think.

And that’s exactly what I did… except I moved inside next to the wood burning stove! It’s freeeeezing!

Hope you all have a great week!

Stay safe everyone 🌈🌈🌈

Day 1321 the sun room painting is finished 👩🏼‍🎨🎨🖌️

I slept like a log again last night but woke at 6.30am. I was thinking about work this week which is rubbish at that time on a Sunday….. so I got up with the dogs and brought them downstairs.

I tidied the kitchen and emptied all the recycling down in the bins at the bottom of the garden.

When Craig got up we had our fancy coffee bean coffee and watched a YouTube video of a guy travelling around Tiree. It was lovely to see all the places we had been last year.

We finally got started on the last coat in the sunroom at 9.30am….. I’m a morning person, I’d have been painting from 7am given half the chance, to get it over with 😂

It’s finished… obviously still a bit empty at the moment until we can get everything back in. The floor is wet after mopping.

Craig had bought some UPVC cleaner and oh my god, it was the best thing ever. I think I’m marvelling at the window plastic, more than I am at the newly painted room. It looks like we have new windows.

We’re both ashamed that we don’t look after the house better, at times. To be fair, we have 4 dogs so we don’t stand much of a chance… but it was lovely to see how white the window frames are, I just looked at them again there…. Wow. It’s a game changer!!

I took the dogs out, two separate walks…

I’ve been sitting here for a while….

It’s getting darker and now the window frames are so reflective, they look orange !!

Honestly, if you want to improve your mood, put a bit of effort in to some housework. I can honestly say it makes me feel so happy!!! I can’t stop looking at it.

I get really overwhelmed by mess and dirt…. Who knew it was so easy to eradicate… just by cleaning! 😂😂😂

I had to get up and get showered to remove all traces of paint and we’ve been in the pub for wee Rachel’s 14th birthday party.

Had more cake and loads of nibbles. Lovely to catch up with everyone. Heading home now!

Have a great week!

Stay safe everyone ♥️♥️♥️

Day 1314 decorating the sun room!

We had no idea when we got up today that we would decorate the sunroom…. Yet here we are.

These are the before pics.

Actually I look at the photos and it looks fine but any room with an open fire or stove… and 4 dogs living in it…. Is always going to need a refresh….

I should put it out here and say that if anyone loves me enough to decorate my house for free, then that will be gratefully received. 😌😆😂 it’s not my favourite pastime.

It was super frosty outside and I painted in bare feet. My feet were FUREEEEEZING!!!

Here we are after a couple of coats. It still needs one more we reckon but I lost the will to live 😆

It reminds me of how the room looked when we first moved in as it was all white then. It’s so much wider now that is not green!

We painted all morning and then had some homemade soup that I made late last night. It is a good pot this time around. It worked well. Still Ellison’s recipe. 😂

I then, of course, had to tidy up the house as my brain won’t allow me to live in a complete mess for any length of time.

I love that quote. It’s so true for me. I get all antsy when the place is a mess.

I bought another new duvet cover, which seems decadent but honestly I love the new sheets. This is the same as the last one, just a different colour.

I think this one looks really bright… and more importantly it doesn’t have any dog hair on it woo hoo!!

I then had a shower as I need to be clean for clean bed. 😆 so many rules in my head.

Then we took the 4 dogs out.

We headed into the pub next door when we got back. I had two 0% Gordon’s Pink Gin and slimline tonic. We had a catch up with Rachel two doors down. 😘

Craig’s also made lasagne for dinner tonight and I’m soooo looking forward to it!!

It’s been another lovely weekend, memories made, plenty of relaxing and getting things done around the house. ✅✅✅

This is your Sunday evening reminder that you can take everything life throws at you this week.

As my friend Ruth always says, you’ve survived 100% of days so far…. 😘

Stay safe everyone ♥️♥️♥️
