Day 1637 a very early and tired Rambling Sloth today – that once in a lifetime Aurora came back!!

Since I stopped drinking I have found a zest for life, that crops up at times, that feels a high way beyond what alcohol could give me. Wow.

Now I should say here, I am actually working at Tartan today. I haven’t worked a Friday in a long time but I’m full time this week to give me a Monday off for my trip to Milan at the end of the month.

I knew the Aurora was a very strong possibility last night. I kept getting alerts on my phone and then Rachel two doors down was the best alert ever….. “it’s here!” so I call Claire next door and drag her out the back and we “meet” in our respective gardens.

I then tell her that I’m now dragging her out the front and slightly up the hill so we can get the best views. 😆

We walked out the front door and met Emma, another of our running girls, wondering the streets 😆 and the 3 of us set off.

It’s not visible to the naked eye, but I still pretty impressed given that the 10th May showing was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

There are a lot of electric lines up here that spoil my shots so I use them. 😆

It was so beautiful… I stay out longer than the others as I keep taking photos and never know when to walk away, in case it gets better.

This is the village hall.

Back in the garden.

I am so chuffed and tired. It’s 10.20 by the time I get into bed which is late for me! Craig remarks when I come in that I just look SO happy….. this is what makes me tick. Capturing and sharing beautiful things. It may not pay the bills but the buzz I get off this is incredible.

I’m fast asleep when Craig comes up to bed at 12.30 and I get up for the loo…. My brother has posted some very vibrant shots above his house, on our family chat so I head out into the back garden and it’s there above our house and all over the sky, visible to the naked eye. Red.

I get dressed up and head out the front. Purple from this angle.

I head across the road and up the hill again.

I have no fear at all…. Even when I hear a cow munching in the field beside me!

That once in a lifetime opportunity is back and it’s brighter than it was on 10th May.

I am close to tears.

I cannot explain how this makes me feel. I am so glad to be alive, to witness this. So grateful for my courage letting me walk out in the dark and not be scared for once.

I should also say that I’ve put none of those through my photo filter yet. This is just an iPhone 15 pro and holding it in my hand.

♥️💚

💥 ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💥

The stars are so vibrant too behind the colour.

There’s a car coming from the bottom left. Zoom in on those stars. ✨

Same car lights dull the Aurora but brightens the stars a bit.

Unfortunately Craig’s car was right outside our house.

The village hall again. The streetlights are stopping the real beauty but that’s kind of what you can see with your eyes without the phone camera.

And I am just blown away with gratitude for life. If Craig hadn’t come up to bed late I would have missed it.

He woke me in that high peak.

My alarm didn’t go off this morning because it’s not set for Tartan starting…. Oops… but thankfully I wake at 6 randomly with a pain in my right big toe joint….. 🥴😆 I went straight back out.

It’s cloudy and raining but very atmospheric.

What an amazing night.

Now I have to get a shimmy on or I will be tired and late for work!

And sending positive Aurora vibes for my Canadian bestie Tracey who’s off out to chase them in Vancouver now. It’s just starting for her!!

Stay safe everyone ♥️💜💚

Day 1566 welcome to August… wait, what happened to spring?! I’m still waiting… 😬

I had the best sleep. That’s me back on HRT progesterone for a fortnight and it knocked me for six last night.

I woke up with the alarm… so much for taking the dogs out before work, if I woke early…. I did not wake early!

It’s raining this morning too. Boooooo. 9.5°C, so much warmer than yesterday but very cloudy.

Have a look at Coffee & Quotes on FB for a great follow!

Can you believe it’s August already?!? I mean honestly, we didn’t even get a run of sunshine this year. These last 4 days have probably been the hottest and, even then…. Not a summer.

At least I got to wear my shorts to work for one week of the year. I’ve not worn sandals yet. Still in my trainers. Seems crazy keeping all these summer clothes we can’t ever wear. Yeah I know, that’s a ridiculous statement!!

I spotted our lovely roses, as I kicked a ball about, for the dogs, before work.

I just love this one. It’s so pretty.

There was one bud a few weeks ago but the petals fell off in heavy rain. I’m so pleased it flowered again.

I also love our bright hydrangea bush.

Work was good again and passed quickly.

So that’s me at my weekend already! The 4 day week passed very quickly.

I have a few things planned to keep this weekend busy, though nothing tomorrow so will try to keep my noisy head in check.

I’m currently sitting outside in the heat of the sun while poor Craig has broken down on his way to a client. He had a battery light come on last night and he trickle charged the car overnight. It’s just completely died while he was on the phone to me just before 5pm. He’s 5 minutes from the clients house but has to wait for the car to be recovered. While you could say rubbish timing, he managed to to limp it into a side road, so he’s safe, which is definitely the main thing.

I also found out tonight that I’ve become a printed photographer!!!

I sent my neighbour an aurora photo of her house, back on 10th May, when we had the beautiful Aurora. She currently has this one displayed on her wall at the top of the stairs.

She didn’t tell me but called me in to look at it, so it was a surprise!

I am so proud.

It looks lovely and you can even see the stars in the sky.. .

I knew she was awake, as the living room light was on. I thought her house made the shot.

I think the weather is due to break tonight but this has been a really lovely spell. there was a brief aurora last night too.

My head’s had a chance to re balance this week, which has been lovely and much more comfortable, than the noise I had spinning around in it, last week.

Long may that continue.

The recovery truck is on its way to the garage so I’ve to go and get Craig in half an hour. Claire just phoned about a walk…. Such a shame but can’t be helped. Got to rescue the boy!

Stay safe everyone ♥️♥️♥️

Day 1307 Macmillan Afternoon Tea 2023 in the village hall 💚💚💚

Let’s start by saying that the Aurora is kicking off big time tonight and I drove down to Kilbirnie Loch to try to see it…. And was TERRIFIED by myself in the dark!! 😂😂 literally switched the headlights off and thought nope… no can do!! Headlights back on.

How funny eh? The darkness was overwhelming…. I immediately felt like there was someone in the back seat of the car 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

So if there’s Aurora to be had tonight, I ain’t seeing it.

They say it could actually be visible in the South of England. It’s off the charts!

There were some stunning shots from last night. Just out of this world.

I’m so annoyed with myself but I just couldn’t do it. 😂😂

Back to today… we had the Macmillan Afternoon Tea in the village hall today. Holly has just announced that it raised £1,005 , isn’t that amazing!

A few pics from today.

I was on the raffle today. Really enjoyed it…. We made £345.50 on the raffle table, with guess the cuddly toys age, among other things. Pretty amazing eh?!

I’ve consumed way more sugar that I should have done. A whole lotta cake!

I ended up having to call the raffle and having to do the closing thank you address. I only found out about that when we had about 5 raffle prizes to go 😬😳 but I did it.

Now shattered, full of sugar, sitting on the couch… wishing I was braver to be out in the dark waiting on the Aurora. 😂

Oh I also go apple car play installed in my car today. The stereo that was fitted, wasn’t great and I always listen to podcasts while I’m driving. I’ve not been able to do that properly since I got the car. I’m so pleased with it.

And finally a TV show recommendation if you have Netflix… “All the light we cannot see”…. Is really good. We watched all 4 episodes last night and highly recommend it!

Right enough rambling.

Stay safe everyone ♥️♥️♥️
